Call to Artists: Lowe’s Holiday Pop-Up Event

Time: 10 AM - 2 PM 

Location: Lowe’s, West Asheville (95 Smokey Park Hwy, Asheville, NC 28806)

In light of the challenges faced by artists in the River Arts District due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, we are excited to announce a special opportunity for 25 selected artists to showcase their work at the Lowe’s Holiday Pop-Up Event. This event aims to support local artists through sales, promotion and grant funding in celebration of their resilience.

What’s Included for Selected Artists:

• $1,000 grant
• 10x10 tent
• 1 table and 2 chairs
• Signage and promotional support

Eligibility Criteria:

To apply, artists must meet the following guidelines:

1. Current Tenants: Applicants must show proof that they were tenants in the River Arts District at the time of Hurricane Helene.
2. Impact from Hurricane Helene: Applicants must have lost inventory due to Hurricane Helene.
3. Physical Work For Sale: Applicants must have some physical work available for sale on November 30. It is recommended that this work befit that of a pop-up retail art market.
4. Art Categories: Work must fit into one of the following categories:

• Visual Art/Print Photographer
• Fashion & Jewelry
• Pottery & Textiles/Basketry
• Glass, Metal & Wood
• Home Decor & Bookbinding/Paper

Selling Opportunities:

During the market hours, selected artists will have the chance to sell their work in three ways:

1. Sell existing work.
2. Create live art and prepare pieces using the Lowe’s grant.
3. Sell or take commissions for future work during the event.

Selected artists will retain 100% of proceeds made at the event. 

Selection Process & Timeline:

Artists from the River Arts District are invited to apply beginning November 1, 2024. Artists will be randomly selected from each category, totaling 25 participants.

Application Period: Nov. 1 - 12, 2024

Application Deadline: Nov. 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET

Selected Artists Notified: By Nov. 14, 2024

Selected Artists Can Begin Event Set-up: Nov. 30 at 8 a.m. ET
